A big concrete ball, 2 feet in diameter, with a mosaic fleur de lis, is in Francis Park in Saint Louis, Missouri. This, and other fanciful mosaics nearby, was made by Robin Murez of Venice, California.
This species is found throughout temperate Europe and Asia, but also in the region around Saint Louis. In April of 1870, about one or two dozen of these birds, imported from Germany, were released in Lafayette Park.
