Young Conservation Area, in Jefferson County, Missouri, USA - landscape with moon

This photo was taken by the light of the moon. Young Conservation Area, near Eureka, Missouri.

  1. Wow! You really got the green in the grass!

  2. Actually, the version of the image I got out of my camera looked like it was taken in daylight. The grass was a nice bright yellowish-green color.

I corrected the luminosity of the colors approximately according to the Purkinje effect, which darkened the foliage greatly without changing the brightness of the sky much. This simulates the activity of the human eye under low lighting: our eyes become more sensitive to blue-green light and much less sensitive to red.

Then I corrected for the color of the lighting, moving everything towards Midnight blue color. I pushed the darkest tones towards pure gray or black.

This looks pretty much as I remembered seeing it.
