Filming at Bishop DuBourg High School

Bishop DuBourg High School, in Saint Louis, Missouri

For the past number of days, this spotlight has been trained upon upper-story windows of Bishop DuBourg High School, in Saint Louis, Missouri. The school is owned by the Archdiocese of Saint Louis.

Director Sandy Tung is filming Alice, first of a series based on the girl's coming-of-age novels by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. It stars Luke Perry, Penny Marshall, and Alyson Stoner as Alice. Filming finishes on Sunday.

This spotlight simulates sunlight streaming into the classroom windows; it is often moved from one direction to another, and is usually burning late into the evening. These windows face north, and the weather has been overcast about half of the time lately.

But lest anyone think that film production is glamorous, it instead is made up of very long hours doing the same thing over and over again, just like any other job.
