  1. This brings to mind a very recent conversation that I had with a retired priest. We live very near a Poor Hand Maids of Jesus Christ Convent, which currently has ZERO young women in training. The active local sisters are averaging well into their 60's in age the rest are retired and living in the nursing home.
This order is growing and thriving in Germany and yet cannot attract a single young lady to join the order here. The active sisters cannot be distinquished on the street as nuns. It is curious to us that the orders that have either retained or returned to the traditional habits seem to be the ones are thriving in the US?? Is there any truth to that?
