An Offense Against Art

IT HAS LATELY come to my attention that a number of the photographs on this website may look somewhat pale or desaturated.

For example:

_DSC0656
Lodewik Susi, Flemish, “Still Life with Mice”, 1619, Saint Louis Art Museum.

The top half of the photo shows how the colors ought to look, while the bottom half shows how it looks on Microsoft Internet Explorer.

This is due to a common, yet obscure, computer-science problem with how colors are represented in a digital image file. I've known about this problem for years, but I didn't think it applied to me.

My apologies to the approximately 50% of my readers who use Internet Explorer!
