Bradford pear in bloom at De Smet Jesuit High School, in Creve Coeur, Missouri.

  1. We have a gorgeous Bradford in our front yard. Big. Nice flowers, but I hate it. Just the other day, my middle daughter noticed that the blooms stink a little, like old fish. You especially notice it biking along a line of them at the side of the road.

  2. They look good in spring and in fall but aren't such good trees in general. They are pretty weak and tend to get easily broken up in the storms we get. Also, they are too small and don't provide much shade, and they don't live very long either.
