Why such a dire warning? Because there are tigers here! Photo taken at Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary, near River aux Vases, in Sainte Genevieve County, Missouri.
While the big cats here are (presumably, and hopefully) caged, Missouri's formerly native big cat species, the Mountain lion (Puma concolor) may be making a comeback, earning its keep by preying on the state's large whitetail deer (Odocoileus virginianus) population.
I am not a fan of these operations, however I guess they serve a purpose for retiring aminals. I think there is even another one not too far from this one on Highway Y between 67 and French Village
