Steam-Powered Robots

See the article: Steam Dream Machines, about an inventor who makes small steam-powered robots, often just using technology that would have been available to the Victorians.
My first creations were all very simple, small engines and now I am getting bigger and bigger because I want more power, I want them to go faster and I want them to do more things. I am planning on making something that is going to be able to fully carry me around, some kind of small vehicle.
A major advantage of steam is that you can use just about anything combustible for fuel. A major disadvantage is that steam engines can explode.

I am always amazed at how old technology can be made to do new tricks; often technologies are abandoned even though they still have interesting potential.
