  1. Hello Mr. Scott!

I have seen your photos of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield IL -- Lovely!

As you know the cathedral will very soon be cleaned, renovated and repainted. I am wondering if you took any shots of the clerestory ... they do not appear to be on your site here.

    (above the griffins)

Between each of the small windows is an intricate panel decorated with stenciled plaster (so the design is raised like a bas-relief) leaves and vines rising from a metalic silver greek urn. The vines also curl up to meet a bishops miter which is accented in metalic gold.

It would be a nice addition to the photos you have already on display because it will all be changed soon!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful gift through these images! Jane Bucci, Cathedral Parishoner

  2. That's my parish!!! Did you like it?

They were able to re-use most of the old stained glass when they expanded the church. They also added a few more. I'm not so fond of those as they are completely different in style. I also wish the painting around the stations of the cross made them stand out more.

    Lovely photos!

    Thanks,
    Cathy

  3. Jane, I will look through my photos to see if I have any clerestory shots.

Cathy, I would have liked to take additional photos at your church, but time wouldn't let me!
